On this particular day, we were able to film both the traditional Jewish ceremony in addition to the formal ceremony. It begins with the signing of the ketubah which is the Jewish marriage contract. Then, everyone gathered underneath the legendary fig tree for the public ceremony. For this, the bride and groom, along with the rabbi, all gather underneath the chuppah. The chuppah is a traditional tent like object. Finally, the traditional glass is stepped on and broken by the groom before the first kiss!
After the ceremony, the guests stayed by the tree for cocktail hour. Multiple appetizers were served to hungry guests as they enjoyed the summer dusk that sat over the Pacific Ocean. After we photographed and filmed the couple during sunset, we went inside to celebrate the night away.
For the first dance, the song chosen was Faithfully by Journey. This song was special for the couple because Mike performed it at karaoke at the end of their first date. It wouldn’t be the last time that night that Journey was sang by guests.
